Dentures are sets of artificial teeth set into plastic frameworks that rest directly on the gums.  Partial dentures are used for people with several teeth missing and whose teeth aren't strong enough to support a bridge.  Complete dentures are used for those who have lost all of their upper or lower teeth.

Visits: Three to five visits are required to obtain gum impressions and fit the dentures properly.  After you receive the dentures, several more visits may be necessary to make minor adjustments.

Durability: The durability ranges because partial or complete dentures may be needed.

How dentures are placed:

.....1. Partial Dentures: Clasps fit onto the adjoining natural teeth and framework fits directly on the gums.

.....2. Complete Dentures: They replace all the teeth in a jaw and fit directly on the gums and supporting bone.

Bridges are tooth replacements that are attached to adjoining natural teeth. They work best for people who have only a few missing teeth. Bridges require that the adjoining teeth be healthy and have adequate gum and root support.

Visits: Usually two or three.

Durability: Check-ups are required after bridges are placed.

How bridges are bonded:

..... Artificial teeth are set between crowns placed over adjoining natural teeth. Natural teeth are shaped to receive crowns and form the bridges.
